Dale Fletcher, an independent candidate for Harbourside and Town Ward Gosport Borough Council says :
I am incredibly happy to support this cause. A few words:
“Gosport Borough Council needs to put climate change strategies at the centre of everything it does, not just token gestures about saving paper in the Town Hall.
Also Gosport has one of the worst recycling rates in the Country, claiming that it sends near zero waste to landfill. This is a misnomer - it’s not because recycling is high, it’s because the Council burns everything!
The change required is as simple as ABCD.”

Sandra Abrams is standing for the Lib Dems in Titchfield Common
“Climate change is at the core of the world's problems now. The chances of Britain actually meeting future targets for bringing the country's existing housing stock up to carbon neutral standards is increasingly unachievable unless councils become more proactive.
Over development, water pollution, insufficient progress in promoting tree planting and encouraging biodiversity is seriously taking it's toll on the natural environment locally. On FBC we need councillors who treat seriously problems linked to climate change”

Bob Maynard, is the Lib Dem candidate in Bridgemary Ward, Gosport. He sent us this message:
1 Aligns with my personal values and aspirations.
2 We all need to reduce our carbon footprint.
3 By the way, ground and air source heat pumps are not the best solution because it is not suitable for listed buildings, or flats; moreover, the flow temperature is about half that of existing gas boilers, therefore, each radiator will need to be doubled in size and insulation cladding will need to be installed. The cost will be very high, despite the grant, and prohibitive. A better more cost-effective solution will be to go for Hydrogen, this will result in the combustion process only producing good ol' H2O

Jon Andersen the Lib Dem campaign coordinator for Fareham sent us this message :
7 of our Fareham Liberal Democrat candidates signed the ABCD pledge from SECA yesterday, ahead of Earth Day tomorrow (April 22nd)
Their pledge is to urge Fareham Borough Council to crack on with implementing the climate policies instigated in 2019 by local LibDem Councillors to achieve net carbon neutrality by 2030. This target is deliberately more demanding than central government goals.
This is the motion that was passed back in 2019, and we continue to be fully committed to pushing the council to implement all 8 points of the motion https://farehamlibdems.org.uk/2019/10/25/lets-beat-climate-emergency-together/
The photo shows Rowena Palmer (Fareham West), Ashley Brown (Portchester West)(who signed it last year), Jim Palmer( Fareham South), Ciaran Urry-Tuttiet (Fareham North), Paul Nother and Chrissie Bainbridge (Portchester East) and John Murray (Warsash)

I am very happy to support the ABCD pledge – the time for action on the climate crisis that we all face is way overdue – 1992 would have been good (anyone remember Local Agenda 21 (LA21) that emerged from the 1992 Rio Summit? Every decision the council makes today has consequences for this and all future generations, and there is no time to lose.

Please accept my ABCD pledge in support of SECA and GFFOE. I have young children and Grandchildren and feel that climate change will affect them in more ways than it will affect me. So it is important to push local Councils and Government. This is a crisis and WE all need to stand up and take notice of this situation.

Being a member of the Green Party for seven years, this pledge obviously
chimes with my own values. Accelerate Action is something that needs to
happen urgently because I still feel that the climate crisis is seen by
many in government as something that just requires a few changes here
and there and to just mention the climate and the environment every now
and then. This is simply not good enough.
